Make sure all your TVs are ready.

Channels in your area are about to be digitally encrypted, which means the channels will only be accessible on TVs that have a cable box or HD DigitaLink*. If you have any TV’s that are directly plugged into the cable with no box from Suddenlink, those TVs will be affected by this change.

What is digital encryption?

  • To protect copyrighted content, TV Networks use digital encryption technology, which "scrambles" the TV signal. Only households that subscribe to encrypted channels can display the programming.
  • In some markets, we are also updating our signals from analog to digital to ensure you receive the best quality signals.

What channels are impacted?

  • All channels will be digitally encrypted. For a list of the channels in your area please visit suddenlink.com/tvlineup and choose your location.

How does this affect me?

  • Without a cable box or HD DigitaLink connected to each TV in your home, you’ll no longer be able to enjoy these channels. You must call 844.737.7111 at least 2 weeks prior to your area’s Phase 1 encryption date to order equipment.
  • If you have an SD-DTA on your TV, you will also need to replace that device. It looks like the image below. You can also confirm if your device is an SD-DTA if there are no HDMI ports (only two silver RF ports like C and D in the image below)

MPEG4 Conversion Markets

If you are located in any of the below areas, you can check if your cable box will be able to receive the channels after encryption by tuning to channel 899. If you can see the message on the channel no action is needed. for that particular TV. If any TVs in your home or business are unable to see the message, call us at 844-737-7111 to order equipment.

How do I set up my HD DigitaLink?

  • Wait until your area’s Phase 1 date (above) to set up and activate. Your new device will not work before this date.
  • On your scheduled date, follow the instructions to install your equipment (included in your shipment) and then call 877.305.7323 to activate your device. Be sure to have your account number handy to have the fastest service and automatically activate your box.
  • NOTE: The HD DigitaLink may take up to 30 minutes to download and update all software. Please allow this time on installation after calling the above number.

Returning equipment

  • If your HD DigitaLink is being placed on a TV where there was no previous device, there is nothing to return and you are ready to continue viewing TV.
  • If your HD DigitaLink is replacing an older device that does not support the encrypted channels, you can return the older device by following the instructions for a prepaid label here.
