What is a DigitaLink device?

  • A DigitaLink is a digital transport adapter which is a device that converts a digital signal into an analog signal so it can be displayed by an analog TV. In cable networks that have an all digital format, a DigitaLink is required for TVs that do not have an external digital converter (cable set-top box) or an internal digital tuner, such as older analog TVs. Newer TV's are increasingly becoming capable of receiving unscrambled digital cable with a Digital QAM tuner and therefore might not need a Digitalink box.
  • Suddenlink is in the process of transitioning its higher channels (Channel 20 and above) to digital signals in order to free up bandwidth for more HD channels and VOD programs and for faster Internet speeds.
  • Customers who have an older TV that does not have an external digital converter (cable set-top box) or an internal digital tuner will need a DigitaLink (a digital transport adapter) to convert the digital signal to analog signal in order to receive channels higher than Channel 20.
