TV Sound Problems

Having issues with your sound? Try the following steps to help fix the problem:

No sound

  • Confirm your TV and cable box aren't set to mute.
  • Try pressing the volume up button on your TV or remote. The TV volume may simply be turned all the way down.
  • Verify your TV is set to the correct input source. For example, if you have a VCR connected, you may be watching TV using a VCR with the VCR turned off.
  • Check to be sure that your connections are correct and are finger-tight.
  • Restart your cable box.

Noise or buzzing

If you're using a remote that came with the TV, the settings between the TV and the cable box may not be within the optimal quality range. Adjust the volume on the TV until it's slightly higher than normal listening. Then set it where you want it using the cable box remote.

Noisy on one channel

  • Check to be sure that your connections are correct and are finger-tight.
  • Be sure the TV or additional equipment is set to the same channel (3 or 4).
  • Try changing the channel. If no other channels have the same issue, then it might be an issue with just the one channel.
  • Restart your cable box.

Sound from only one stereo speaker

  • Check to be sure that your connections are correct and are finger-tight.
  • Be sure wires aren't frayed and that plugs aren't bent or broken.
  • Check speaker balance settings on your TV.
