In addition to having a technician out to your home to professionally install your DOCSIS 3.0 modem for internet services or you may now have the option to have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem sent to your home that you can install yourself.


If you qualify to have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem shipped to you and you have installed the modem on an active outlet, the steps for activating your service can be done on your computer in no time.

Connect your modem and devices

When you receive your DOCSIS 3.0 modem in the mail, the box will contain these items:


  • Cable Modem
  • Power Adapter
  • Coaxial Cable
  • Ethernet Cable
  • 2-Way Cable Splitter
  • Instruction Sheet

Connect your modem to an active cable outlet where it says "Cable In" and wait for the "Online" LED light on the modem to come on. Then connect your computer or router to the back of the modem using the supplied ethernet cord then turn your computer on.




Enter your account number

To start the process of activating your modem, you will need to enter your 16 digit Suddenlink account number into the box then click Continue.



If the wrong account number is entered, you will receive an error like the one below.




Where to find your account number

If you need help finding your account number, you can the "Click here" link to bring up a sample bill to show you where your account number is located.



Verify your information

Once the correct account number is entered, you will be asked to verify that the account information.




Testing your lines

If the account information is correct, the activation system will run a quick test on your lines for signal strength and integrity. This is to ensure that you will receive optimal service.



If your connection doesn't pass the signal tests, you will not be able to proceed with the install. Please call customer care for additional assistance.



Accept the Terms of Service

If the connection test is successful, you will be shown a Terms of Service page. You must agree to the Terms of Service to continue.




Powercycle your network

Once you have clicked "YES" to agree to the Terms of Service, you will be presented with a screen that will provide you a transaction number for this order. After 5 minutes you will need to powercycle your network to get online. For more information on how to powercycle your network, click here.
