Suddenlink Calling Features
Call Trace
Call Trace is customer initiated and is not related to CALEA or law enforcement activity. If you receive a harassing or threatening call, you can attempt to have the number traced and, by request, forwarded to the proper authorities. Suddenlink can only release these records to the proper authorities. Suddenlink cannot guarantee that this service will work for any particular attempt.
To Use:
When you get a nuisance call, press and quickly release the “switch hook” or “flash” button. Listen for a special dial tone. If you’ve already hung up, just lift the handset again and listen for a normal dial tone. Press * 57. Listen for a confirmation announcement that the last call has been traced; follow any additional voice instructions if prompted. Hang up. The number you traced will be recorded by Suddenlink personnel. If you decide to follow-up on the matter, you must contact a law enforcement agency and we’ll provide that number directly to them. We cannot provide the traced number directly to the Suddenlink Telephone customer. Agents will not have access to this information.

The “switch hook” is the button the handset pushes down when you hang up the phone. Some telephones have a “flash” key you can press instead. Call Trace must be used immediately after you hang up on the call you want traced. If you get another call, or hear a Call Waiting tone first, you will trace the wrong call. |
